Lazer Lanes, is located in south Columbia, Missouri. It currently contains a bowling alley, an arcade, a laser tag arena, a bumper car area, a gym, two restaurants, a bar, and is approximately 40,000 square feet. The building was originally constructed in 1975 as an ice skating rink. Since then, it has been transformed into everything from indoor tennis courts, to a concert venue, to an antique mall and now, to a family fun center. Lazer Lanes is an important piece of the community. Recreation and entertainment are part of everyone’s daily life, and in Columbia, this specific business has been a popular choice for a variety of users.

Recreation and entertainment are part of everyone’s daily life, and in Columbia, this specific business has been a popular choice for a variety of users. Many companies have corporate events there, schools rent it out for fundraisers and activities, it is used for birthday parties daily, and with the bar in the back, it is frequently used as a weekend hangout by college students. The users of this facility are diverse, but they all have a common goal: a fun evening of recreation. Individuals from all walks of life cross paths here and INTERSECT, creating new memories and experiences that can be shared with one another.

BACKGROUND

Each line represents one person's experience. Some lines overlap multiple lines, while others intersect with fewer. This space has been created to facilitate these connections, so every user has the opportunity to connect with others. The theme of intersection is present in various aspects of the design, from furniture and material selection, to circulation routes, and Lazer Lane's site as well.
